The Montana Police Department is headquartered in downtown Montana and co-located with the Marble Mountain County Sheriffs office in the Law Enforcement Center. The department was founded in 1857 shortly after the gold rush, which increased the size of the city. MPD has lost 45 police officers during 1857-2019.
